Credible Reputation Systems for P2P e-Communities
نویسنده
چکیده
Reputation mechanisms for distributed e-Communities are vital tools for facilitating trust decisions regarding transactions between entities. Motivated by the current challenges in the area of P2P reputation systems regarding their desgign, credibilty enhancement and objective evaluation, in this thesis we worked towards (1) creating a framework for the development and evaluation of secure reputation systems, and (2) designing and evaluating a credible reputation system for P2P communities with incentives for honest recommendations. We have thus created a conceptual model and a credibility framework for the design of credible reputation systems. We also proposed an evaluation framework for reputation systems for their objective evaluation and comparison. We then developed a credible reputation system (CREPARS) which consists of (a) credibility-enhanced reputation estimation algorithms and processes and (b) a novel recommendation exchange mechanism which is based on recommendation trustworthiness of entities and uses a PKI-based payment scheme. For the evaluation of the proposed reputation system we used credibility analysis and simulation in various attack scenarios and in comparison with other well-known reputation systems. The results have shown that the proposed reputation mechanisms exhibit resilience to various attacks and offer incentives for honest recommendations, leading to increased efficiency.

Credible Reputation Metric for P2P e-Communities
Peer-to-Peer (P2P) systems and applications are attracting a lot of attention nowadays, as they mimic human communities and support useful community. Due to their social and decentralized nature, trust plays an essential role for their functionality. P2P reputation systems have emerged in order to satisfy this need for trust. However, reputation systems themselves are targets of multiple kinds ...

Robust and credible reputation systems are essential for the functionality of Peer-to-Peer (P2P) applications. However, they themselves are susceptible to various types of attacks. Since most current efforts lack an exploration of a comprehensive adversary model, we try to fill in this gap by providing a thorough view of the various credibility threats against a decentralized reputation system ...

An important issue in P2P networks is the existence of malicious nodes that decreases the performance of such networks. Reputation system in which nodes are ranked based on their behavior, is one of the proposed solutions to detect and isolate malicious (low ranked) nodes. Gossip Trust is an interesting previously proposed algorithm for reputation aggregation in P2P networks based on t...

P2P systems are increasingly used for efficient, scalable data sharing. Popular applications focus on massive file sharing. However, advanced applications such as online communities (e.g., medical or research communities) need to share private or sensitive data. Currently, in P2P systems, untrusted peers can easily violate data privacy by using data for malicious purposes (e.g., fraudulence, pr...

Reputation systems offer a viable solution to the old problem of encouraging trustworthy behavior in online communities. Their key presumptions are that the participants of an online community engage in repeated interactions and that the information about their past doings is informative of their future performance and as such will influence it. Thus, collecting, processing, and disseminating t...
